The Sympathetic Nervous System is known as “fight or flight.” This kicks in when our body experiences stress. The blood rushes to our extremities to allow for greater physical exertion, essential if we are in danger. However, our Sympathetic Nervous system can also kick in when we have anxiety, have memories that remind us of past experiences, or just feel overwhelmed. This Stress will leave our bodies vulnerable to disease by reducing the effectiveness of the immune system.
